In the world of Instagram likes and Twitter retweets, it’s nearly impossible to stay off of social media. Everyone’s doing it, talking about it, liking it, commenting on it, following, unfollowing, adding, posting, sharing, uploading and you get it. Celebrities are the same way only sometimes they make money for what they share on social media.

Of course, there are the select few stars that have stayed away from the craze like Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. They really haven’t been sucked in at all. On the other hand, we have some celebs who have tried to go off the grid completely but literally just can’t stay away.

With the WannaFollow app, you can follow everyone without the struggle of going to multiple platforms.  Signup here.

Some of these celebs that have tried to stay away, have succeeded for a couple months but then got back on social train. Then there have been others who have only lasted 24 hours without tweeting!

Justin Bieber

When the Biebs started hanging out with Sofia Richie he got a lot of hate for it on social media. The “Sorry” singer posted a series of photos with her fooling around in the backseat of a car and the backlash kept rolling in. It was then that he decided to leave the social platform altogether. He wrote, “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.”

He wrote that 31 weeks ago. However, he couldn’t stay away because he got back on the gram to promote his Superbowl commercial back in February. Ever since then JB has been posting multiple photos a day!

Selena Gomez

When Selena went to rehab to treat her Lupus, she went off the grid in terms of social media. Now that she’s back, she has pointed out that she still deletes the app off of her phone. She told the New York Times, “You can’t avoid it sometimes. I delete the app from my phone at least once a week. You fixate on the [negative] ones. They’re not like ëYou’re ugly.’ It’s like they want to cut your soul. Imagine all the insecurities that you already feel about yourself and having someone write a paragraph pointing out every little thing and even if it’s just physical.”

However, as much as she tries, she can’t stay away either. Selena updates her Instagram stories, her posts, and her other social media accounts daily. Not to mention, she’s the most followed person on Instagram right now with 114 million followers!

Demi Lovato

Demi decided to leave Twitter and Instagram on June 20, 2016. But, literally just one day later she rejoined. She tweeted and said, “I love my Lovatics too much to leave them over some lame a– haters.. What was I thinking?! ????.”

It seems like Demi can’t live without social media or her fans considering she didn’t even go 24 hours without it. To be honest, we can’t blame her! How many times do YOU refresh Instagram during the day??

Normani Kordei

This Fifth Harmony gal was so over the racist remarks and comments she was receiving on social media that she put a note on Twitter explaining what was going on. She said that she was cyberbullied and was getting sent tweets and photos so racially charged that she couldn’t handle it anymore. The whole situation was terrible.

However, being on Instagram is a way to connect with her fans so staying off of it forever wouldn’t be the smartest move. Normani is back and better than ever and the haters will just have to deal with how thick her skin is!

Zayn Malik

In 2012, Zayn said, “The reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter. My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account, x.”

Well, this is awkward because then Zayn quit the band. He was pretty MIA on social media for awhile but without your own Instagram and Twitter, the self-promo is nowhere to be found. Once Zayn was ready to release his solo album, he got back on the gram real quick!

Kendall Jenner

Kendall is known to have some of the most lavish social media posts in the world. But, when she deleted it, all of her fans were confused. She confessed to Ellen Degeneres, “I just wanted to detox. I just wanted a little bit of a break. I would wake up in the morning and look at it first thing, I would go to bed and it would be the last thing I looked at. I felt a little too dependent on it so I wanted to take a minute.”

But Kendall and the rest of her famous family actually make money from social media and a lot of money. Kendall would never go off the gram for awhile and she didn’t. She’s back and posting glorious photos that make us super jealous of her fab life!

Ed Sheeran

In December 2015, Ed put his Instagram and all social media on hold as he took a much needed break from his phone. He wanted to travel, see the world and create new music. He warned fans that a third album was on the way. Now over a year later, Ed is back, his album Divide is here and social media is his friend again!

Miley Cyrus

Fans were pretty upset with Miley when she announced that she was quitting Twitter because Liam Hemsworth didn’t have one. But, that was back in 2009 and a lot has changed since then. Miley is super active on Instagram and on Twitter again. While she does use Twitter less, she still posts to raise awareness for issues that she feels passionate about like LGBTQ rights, Happy Hippie Foundation, equal rights and the occasional selfie.

Today, Miley can’t stay away from social media because it’s the most useful way to get her opinions out there to a vast amount of people and to be honest and it works!

Hailey Baldwin

So, why did Hailey delete her social media? She said, “I was getting so sucked into watching and reading things I just didn’t want to know.” Wellllll…her break didn’t last long either. The model got back on the social media train soon after deleting her Instagram and Snapchat. Her latest posts? A series of black and white photos from a secret project and boy does she look stunning!

Iggy Azalea

In February 2015, Iggy revealed that her management would officially take over her account. She explained that social media has the worst reflection of mankind. However, she couldn’t leave the cyber world forever because it seems like she’s back on both Twitter and Instagram. Of course, some of Iggy’s posts seem like her management put them up but most of it definitely comes from Iggy herself!

Seriously, even the biggest celebs today can’t stay away!
